US-41 reopens following bridge rebuilding in Alger County
August 05, 2025
NEWBERRY, Mich. - US-41 in Alger County has fully reopened to traffic as work on two US-41 bridges over the West Branch of Whitefish River and Huber Creek is substantially complete.
The detour that has been in place since April has been lifted and the single-lane closure at Huber Creek has been removed. Remaining work may require intermittent single-lane or shoulder closures with traffic regulators.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has invested about $1.5 million to repair and rebuild the two bridges, including superstructure replacement, end header replacement, deck patching, substructure repair and approach work.
This work will extend the lifespan of the structures and increase safety for motorists.
