Pine Grove Avenue ramp paving Nov. 14 - 15 in Port Huron

PORT HURON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin implement temporary lane and ramp closures as work continues to wrap up component one of the Blue Water Bridge (BWB) plaza expansion project in Port Huron.

On Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15, intermittent lane closures will be on place on eastbound I-94 off ramp to Pine Grove Avenue. Additionally, 10th Avenue south of Pine Grove Avenue will be fully closed. This is being done to ensure the safety of crews and motorists during paving work.

Work began the week of Nov. 3 to prepare the 10th Avenue/Pine Grove Avenue intersection, the Pine Grove Connector and eastbound I-94 to fully reopen by mid-November. Crews are currently finishing remaining road work, including top course paving, filling pavement gaps and approach work.

Intermittent lane and shoulder closures will be implemented and posted as needed in the project area as crews complete this work.

Component one of the BWB plaza expansion includes relocating exit 275, reconfiguring the Pine Grove Avenue/10th Avenue intersection and rebuilding eastbound I-94/I-69 at the MDOT maintenance facility location. Additionally, the project involves installing noise walls along the eastbound I-94/I-69 exit to Pine Grove Avenue and along westbound I-94/I-69 Business Loop (BL) from Garfield Street south to the Black River Bridge.

Based on economic modeling, this $36.3 million investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 346 jobs.
