Section 1115 Reentry Services Demonstration
Update on the 1115 Reentry Services Demonstration Waiver
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ (MDHHS) formal request to withdraw its Medicaid Section 1115 Reentry Services Demonstration. MDHHS submitted the request due to a lack of funding appropriations in the Fiscal Year 2026 state budget.
Work on the waiver concluded on December 31, 2025. No further action is needed from members of the Implementor Advisory Group (IAG).
MDHHS thanks all partners and contributors for their time, expertise, and dedication. Insights and materials from this initiative will be archived and considered for future efforts to support reentry populations.
Note: MDHHS will continue to meet obligations under the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), which remain closely related to the work started under the waiver.
