Guy Thompson Parent Advisory Council (GTPAC)
The Guy Thompson Parent Advisory Council (GTPAC) is comprised of parents who are actively participating in or previously serviced by a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) contracted family preservation program or the child welfare system, including Children's Protective Services (CPS) or Foster Care.
The Advisory Council assists the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and partner agencies by providing input on the quality of policies based on personal experiences.
The Advisory Council members participate in quarterly meetings and work to achieve its objectives through additional activities, such as:
- Reviewing policies and procedures.
- Participating in engagement opportunities such as workgroups, advisory boards, or steering committees in which programs and policies are developed.
- Participating in legislative advocacy or testimony.
- Participating in forums and presentations involving child welfare stakeholders.
If you have experience with Michigan's child welfare system and would like to request a membership application or request more information about the committee, please email: MDHHS-GTPAC@michigan.gov with the subject line: "GTPAC membership application" or apply online: https://www.research.net/r/GTPACmemberapplication
