Claims Period Update and Information
On January 21, 2021, Judge Judith E. Levy of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan approved a partial settlement for business owners, residents, children, and others who were exposed to contaminated water provided by the Flint Water Treatment Plant during the period of April 25, 2014, to November 16, 2020.
The initial registration period for the settlement closed on March 29, 2021, and a claims period began on January 12, 2022.
Please note: If you have previously registered for the Flint Water Settlement through mail or the online portal, more documentation is required to finalize a claim! If you or a dependent are registered, please submit the required documentation and forms to complete a claim before June 30, 2022.
If you previously registered for the settlement through mail, the necessary forms to complete a claim will be sent by mail to the return address you designated. If you created an online account at www.officialflintwatersettlement.com and registered using the claims administrator portal, you should login to the same account, and complete the required documentation online using the portal. Check your email account used for registration for additional instructions regarding the claims process and instructions for completing and submitting each document required. If your contact information (email, street address, phone number) has changed since you registered for the settlement, you must promptly report all changes to Archer Systems at FLINTWATER@ARCHERSYSTEMS.com or 1-800-493-1754, or to your attorney.
If you or a dependent is represented by an attorney in this settlement, contact them prior to completing any claims paperwork. They may assist with the completion of this documentation or submit on your behalf.
Children in foster care during the period of April 25, 2014, to November 16, 2020, may already have legal representation and an ongoing registration for the settlement. Adoptive and biological parents of foster care children previously in areas supplied by the Flint Water Plant may be eligible to complete a claim. Additional communication from a court designated attorney may also occur to finalize crucial documents for the claim period. It is imperative you respond to these inquiries in a timely manner if you wish to submit a claim for yourself as a former foster care child, or as the adoptive/biological parent of a current or former foster care child.
Every registered individual will need to complete the following.

- Release Form
- Signature Attestation Form
- Lien Questionnaire
- Declaration of Proof of Exposure Form (personal injury claims)
- Business Interruption Claim Form (property damage or business economic loss)
- Declaration of Real Property Owner/Renter and/or Business Owner Form (property damage or business economic loss)
