Welcome to the 2024 Breaking Barriers Art Exhibit. The Breaking Barriers Art Exhibit celebrates Disability Pride Month by recognizing talented Michigan artists with developmental disabilities.
Artists with developmental disabilities often face stigmas that prevent them from accessing opportunities in the art world. This online art exhibit challenges stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding developmental disabilities by providing a platform for these artists to showcase their creativity, passion, and unique perspectives.
Please join us on this journey as we highlight the exceptional creativity and passion of these remarkable artists. Explore the art exhibit and gain a deeper understanding of the intersection between disability and art as a powerful form of self-expression and self-advocacy.
Select artworks are currently on display and available for the public to view in-person at the Lansing Shuffle [325 Riverfront Dr, Lansing, MI 48933]. Artists from the Breaking Barriers Art Exhibit are also invited to attend an artist meet-and-greet at the Disability Pride Month Community Celebration at Lansing Shuffle on Friday, July 26.
