Bay Pines Center

Providing secure, safe, supportive, and a structured environment for youth.

Bay Pines Center is a state-operated residential treatment program dedicated to helping youth build stability, develop life skills, and prepare for a successful future. Located in Escanaba, Michigan, we provide a secure, therapeutic environment where young people can grow, heal and move forward with confidence.

Who We Serve

We support female youth ages 12–20 who are court-ordered to DHHS care, in need of secure residential treatment, or awaiting court proceedings and require temporary placement. Our team is committed to providing every young person with safety, structure, and individualized support.

Our Approach

Comprehensive Treatment

Youth receive individual, group, and family therapy; evidence-based interventions; mental health and substance use support; trauma-informed care; and full medical, dental, and psychiatric services.

Skill-Building & Daily Structure

Our program includes life-skills training, social and emotional development, recreational activities, and community service opportunities. Every day is structured to promote responsibility, teamwork, and positive decision-making.

Family Engagement

Family involvement is central to our philosophy. We encourage weekly in-person visits, weekend visitation, virtual visits, and phone calls. Flexible scheduling is available when needed.

Education & Career Development

We offer individualized education plans, credit recovery, GED preparation, high school completion, career exploration, vocational skill-building, and college-level coursework through Bay de Noc Community College.

Reintegration & Transition Planning

Each youth receives a personalized reintegration plan that includes placement planning, school or vocational enrollment, counseling support, and employment preparation.

Our Team

Bay Pines Center is staffed by licensed therapists, educators, direct care specialists, medical and psychiatric providers, and trained supervisors and managers. All staff are trained in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and youth development.

Committed to Safety & Compliance

We maintain full compliance with PREA standards, state licensing requirements, DHHS policies, mandatory reporting laws, and confidentiality regulations. Safety, dignity, and respect guide everything we do.
