Online applications for both farmers and adults will be available on this page starting June 1, 2025. Please continue to visit our website for information on how to register, and a list of Community Partners in your county that will be able to assist you with this process. If you are a farmer and are interested in participating, please complete this survey form (https://forms.office.com/g/NiZLCAHxmg) and a member of the SPF team will reach out to you with next steps. To be eligible to participate, farmers must sell locally grown produce (fruit, vegetables and/or honey) and grow some of the eligible items sold. The Senior Project Fresh program is aimed at helping older adults eat healthier as they age.
The program provides participants free nutrition education and $25 in benefits that can be exchanged for fresh fruits, vegetables, and honey sold at local farmers’ markets and roadside stands.
Residents who are aged 60 or older with a total household income of $28,952.50 or less for an individual, or $39,127.50 for a couple, are eligible to apply for the program.
Residents who are aged 55 or older who belong to a Michigan federally recognized tribe or urban tribal group are also eligible.
Benefits must be obtained in the county in which the applicant lives. The program runs from May 1 to October 31 each year.
