Objective Hearing Screen for All Infants Referred for Early Intervention
A baby can pass the hearing screen at birth but have a hearing loss later. Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) screening is one way to identify late onset hearing loss. Infants who pass their newborn screening can develop acquired hearing loss. Most physician offices do not have the equipment to screen for hearing, therefore, it is critical for Early On staff to utilize their provided hearing screen equipment.
