Michigan Migrant Child Task Force

The Michigan Migrant Child Task Force (MMCTF) was created in 2003 to address needs of Michigan’s migrant children. The purpose of the MMCTF is to convene partners and stakeholders to identify issues, share best practices and develop solutions related to the children (ages 0-21) of migrant and seasonal farmworkers.

Goals/priority areas

  • Increase public awareness about the needs of farmworker children.
  • Increase access to quality education, healthcare, public benefits, and other community services.
  • Advocate for public policy that supports farmworker children.
  • Increase caregiver development and supports.

Membership

IMSC member agencies and non-IMSC member agencies with goals and purpose similar to those of the Migrant Child Task Force.

Outreach Events

The task force hosts four annual outreach events serving 100+ families each year. Each family receives a bag of information regarding services in Michigan for farmworkers. Referrals are given for services such as public benefits, legal, education, health, and child care.
