Recent events have presented some of the most significant challenges to the healthcare workforce in recent memory. As a community, healthcare workers are outward facing, deferring their needs to address the needs of others. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Division of EMS and Systems of Care recognizes that systems only function if providers of all kinds care for themselves so that they can provide quality care for others.
In an effort to support the work of becoming resilient the Systems of Care Conference (September 26 -27) features keynote speakers who are considered experts in the work of trauma exposure including; Laura van Dernoot Lipsky, author and founder of The Trauma Stewardship Institute and widely recognized pioneer in the field of trauma exposure, Connie Burk, co-author of Trauma Stewardship as well as international speaker and expert on helping organizations implement strategies from the Trauma Stewardship framework, and Saddie Elisseou, MD, a physician in the VA health system and a nationally recognized expert in Trauma Informed Care. These conversations are aimed at providing participants with tools and ideas to take back to their organizations to inspire opportunities to support ourselves and each other.
