New Sponsors Sought For Aging Programs

October 24, 2007

The Michigan Office of Services to the Aging (OSA) and the U.S. Corporation for National and Community Service are seeking new sponsors for two aging programs located in Lansing: the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) and the Senior Companion Program (SCP).

Both programs serve Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties, with the FGP also serving Livingston County. The programs assist low-income individuals, age 60 and older, to find and participate in volunteer opportunities with children and adults who have special needs.

Those eligible to apply include public agencies or private and nonprofit organizations. Applicants must have a working relationship with community organizations, and experience with volunteer service opportunities, as well as a strong, diverse base of financial support, and a commitment to improving the lives of older adults.

An informational meeting for interested prospective sponsors will be held at 8:30 a.m. on October 29 at OSA, 7109 West Saginaw Highway in Lansing. Completed applications must be submitted by November 30. Faxed submissions will not be accepted.
