Ypsilanti Pharmacist And Pharmacy Lose License

October 30, 2007

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the pharmacist license of Remy U. Onimoe, R.Ph. and the pharmacy license of R and G Pharmacy, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, which is owned by Mr. Onimoe. The MDCH Bureau of Health Professions orders a summary suspension when it believes that the public's health, safety, and welfare warrant emergency action.

The suspension was a result of R & G Pharmacy being open for business without a licensed pharmacist on the premises. In addition, R & G Pharmacy was dispensing approximately 200 Internet prescriptions per day since it opened in June 2007. Further, Mr. Onimoe employed an unlicensed individual as a pharmacist.

On October 18, 2007, MDCH issued two separate orders summarily suspending R & G Pharmacy's license and Mr. Onimoe's pharmacist license according to the Public Health Code. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of these licenses.
