Troy Physician's License Immediately Suspended after Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material Charges
May 02, 2008
The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the medical license of James Joseph Kelly, Jr., M.D. The MDCH, Bureau of Health Professions orders a summary suspension when it believes that the public's health, safety, and welfare warrant emergency action.
On February 13, 2008, the Oakland County, Michigan, Prosecutor's Office issued a warrant against Kelly, 49, charging five counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and five counts of using a computer to commit a felony. The warrant was issued based on digital photographs on Kelly's computer of prepubescent girls, in provocative poses, wearing age-inappropriate clothing, and exposing breasts and genitals. The criminal matter remains pending.
On April 22, 2008, the MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Kelly's license pursuant to the Public Health Code. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Kelly's medical license.
