The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the registered nurse license of Kimberly Darlene Parker, R.N., based on her felony conviction. Parker, 38, failed to report her conviction to MDCH as required by the Public Health Code.
On Nov. 20, 2002, in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, Parker was convicted of structuring a transaction to evade reporting requirements, a felony. The conviction was based on Parker's participation in the laundering of money from drug trafficking proceeds and related criminal activities. As a result, Parker was placed on probation for a period of two years with terms, and ordered to pay an assessment fee and fine totaling $2,600.00.
On April 30, 2009, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Parker's license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Parker's license to practice as a registered nurse.
