Bobbi Jo Ferguson named Director of Gogebic/Ontonagon/Iron counties DHS

Lansing, Mich September 6, 2012 - Michigan Department of Human Services Director Maura D. Corrigan has appointed Bobbi Jo Ferguson as director for DHS field offices serving Gogebic, Ontonagon and Iron counties in the Upper Peninsula.

A 13-year veteran of the department, Ferguson most recently served as acting director for the three counties. She brings a comprehensive understanding of the services provided by DHS, having held a broad range of positions including children's and adult foster care, protective services, licensing, juvenile justice and prevention. Ferguson also supervised in cash assistance, office management, plus adult and children's services.

"As a lifelong resident in this part of the U.P., I feel like I have a strong connection with the people I serve through DHS," said Ferguson. "My experience across all our programs has prepared me to lead and to keep providing great service to the clients of our three counties."

Ferguson is a native of Bessemer and resident of Marenisco Township, with the unique distinction of having lived in all three counties she now directs for DHS. She graduated from Marenisco High School, earned her bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University, and her master's from Michigan State University.
