Michigan dept of Health and Human Services has new director for Wexford, Missaukee counties

LANSING, Mich. – Luther Lovell is the new Wexford/Missaukee counties director for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Lovell recently took over the post to replace former Director Howard Sweeney, who retired.
Lovell most recently served as the director for Mecosta and Osceola counties – a position he had held since 2013. He previously spent 18 years as a child welfare worker and supervisor before taking on the responsibilities of a program manager and director.
The Wexford and Missaukee office in Cadillac handles children’s services such as Children’s Protective Services and foster care and public assistance benefits such as food and cash assistance and Medicaid.
Lovell is a graduate of Ferris State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
