174 students to graduate from Michigan Career and Technical Institute

BARRY COUNTY, Mich. – The Michigan Career and Technical Institute will host a graduation ceremony for 174 students from throughout the state on Saturday, Jan. 28.

The event is at the MCTI campus, 11611 W. Pine Lake Road, Plainwell. Operated by Michigan Rehabilitation Services within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, MCTI provides vocational training in 13 career areas for adults with disabilities.

“We’re really proud of the efforts and achievements of our students and the MCTI faculty who helped them reach this milestone,” said Suzanne Howell, director of Michigan Rehabitliation Services. “MCTI staff are always putting forth their best efforts to promote the integration of Michiganders with disabilities into both the competitive workplace and the society in which they live.”

Students have the opportunity to be enrolled in technical training programs in automotive technology, cabinet making/millwork, certified nursing assistant, culinary arts, custodial, electronics, graphic communications, grounds maintenance/landscaping, machine technology, office automation, pharmacy technician, retail marketing and weatherization.

MCTI is just one of many programs operated by Michigan Rehabilitation Services. Serving the approximately 1.3 million individuals with disabilities in Michigan, MRS works with eligible customers and employers to achieve quality employment outcomes and independence for individuals with disabilities. MRS works in partnership with individuals with disabilities to prepare them to obtain competitive employment, including exploring the possibilities of self-employment or owning a small business.
