190 to graduate from Michigan Career and Technical Institute during organization's 75th Anniversary; Adults with disabilities honored for hard work, achievement

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI) will host a graduation ceremony for 190 students from across the state on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 2 p.m.

The event is at the MCTI campus, 11611 W. Pine Lake Road in Plainwell. This year’s ceremony will feature distinguished guest speakers who have benefitted from MCTI’s training program as an employer partner and student graduate. 

Marc Schupan, owner of Schupan & Sons, will address students during the ceremony. Schupan & Sons has been a committed employer partner of MCTI and was nominated for a Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) Champion Award last year. Keegan Linton, a graduate of MCTI, an MRS Champion Award recipient, and a current Schupan & Sons employee, is attending the ceremony.

MCTI is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Operated by MRS within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, MCTI provides vocational training in 13 career areas for adults with disabilities. It is the second largest rehabilitation training center in the country.

MCTI strives to promote the integration of Michiganders with disabilities into both the competitive workplace and society. Students can be enrolled in technical training programs in automotive technology, cabinet making/millwork, certified nurse assistant (CNA), culinary arts, custodial, electronics, graphic communications, grounds maintenance/landscaping, machine technology, office automation, pharmacy services, retail marketing and construction.
