LANSING, Mich. – “I am grateful to Governor Whitmer for honoring Rep. Melvin Larsen and Rep. Daisy Elliott by renaming the Lewis Cass Building in recognition of their contributions to civil rights in Michigan. Our staff will be proud to go to work in “Elliot-Larsen,” a building now named to reflect our shared commitment to equal rights for all Michiganders. I look forward to the day when the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act is expanded to provide the same protections to the LGBTQ+ community.”
