Diabetes Technology
Diabetes technology is the term used to describe the devices that people with diabetes use to help with self-management. Diabetes technology includes two main categories:
- Devices that monitor blood sugar: blood glucose monitor/meter (BGM) or continuous glucose monitor (CGM)
- Devices used to administer medication, usually insulin: syringe, pen, patch devices, or pump
Diabetes technology, along with diabetes training, can improve the lives and health of people with diabetes. Technology in our world is ever-changing, including diabetes technology, and it can be difficult to keep up. The information in this section will provide up to date resources about diabetes technology, to improve the understanding and confidence of people with diabetes, their care partners, and health care teams.
