2017 Public Policy Platform
Over the years the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council (Council) has impacted disability policies in Michigan. We continue to address topics that will create positive change in our state, such as leading the way with theEmployment First initiative. As a statewide advocacy organization, our work helps guide individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) towards finding their own voice, their own independence, and helping them become productive, fully included members of their communities.
With this in mind, we are pleased to share the Council’s Public Policy Platform as we continue to advocate that all citizens of Michigan have the opportunities and supports to achieve their full potential.
We will use this platform to continue making strides for independence and inclusion. By supporting advocates to become effective leaders, they will be able to engage in important issues that could have local and statewide impact.
With your continued support and partnership, we know that people with I/DD will achieve their life dreams. Please see the 2017 Public Policy Platform located at the bottom of this page.
Sincerely,
Vendella M. Collins
