Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Initiative (FASD Initiative)
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Initiative (FASD Initiative)
In 2017, MDHHS was allocated funding to focus on children/youth with FASD and their families and to ensure appropriate interventions are available in Community Mental Health Services Programs. The FASD Initiative includes:
- Training to improve children’s mental health providers in their understanding FASD and its impact.
- Develop and pilot a standardized screening and assessment protocol for CMHSP providers.
- Identify evidence based programs for clinical staff to intervene with children at different developmental stages (young children, school aged children, adolescents) and their families and initiate pilots of the programs to assess their feasibility for implementation in the programs.
