Air Quality

Michigan's air quality has improved since its Legislature passed the first statewide Air Pollution Act in 1965 and the federal government signed the Clean Air Act into law in 1970. However, air pollution (or air quality) remains a public health threat in some areas, affecting many Michigan residents.
