As of July 1, 2022, the MI COVID Alert app will no longer be in service. This change is part of the ongoing work to determine the state’s most current needs as we respond to COVID-19. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services continues to provide COVID-19 information and resources to help you protect yourself and your family.
If you test positive and need information on quarantine, isolation or how to notify your close contacts, visit Michigan.gov/ContainCovid, call the COVID-19 Hotline at 888-535-6136 or contact your local health department.
MI COVID Alert

MI COVID Alert is a free app for your mobile phone. It will help us to notify each other and slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan.
Using the MI COVID Alert app along with the existing public health measures will help us all stay safe when we meet up, socialize, work or travel.

Technology used in the app
The app uses Bluetooth and anonymous IDs to log close contact with any phone that also has the app.
How we use your data
The MI COVID Alert app protects the privacy of all app users. The app was designed to protect your privacy.
Exposure Notifications
If you use the app you will:
- be alerted if you may have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus
- be able to track any symptoms you have and get advice on what to do to protect yourself and others
- be able to anonymously warn other app users that you were in close contact with, if you test positive for coronavirus
