Project: In order to meet the needs of parents in Saginaw County, we propose to offer an enhanced version of "Making Parenting a Pleasure" (MPAP). This program will be offered to unduplicated, eligible parents of children 0-8 years of age in a 16-week series (12 weeks of MPAP and four additional weeks of community collaborative training). "Make Parenting a Pleasure" (MPAP is a 12-week series that serves as a focal point for our parents to learn as well as receive support from their fellow parents in the community. Four additional sessions will insure that they can build on the lessons learned in the curriculum as well as the protective factors. This program will create a warm and safe environment where they can feel comfortable sharing their experiences and learning about parenting. The protective factors that are integrated in the curriculum and supported by our collaborative community partners include: Parent Resilience, Social Connections, Concrete Support in Times of Need, Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development, and Social and Emotional Competence of Children. Our evaluation of this program includes the use of the MPAP Parenting Skills Ladder and the FRIENDS Protective Factors Survey as well as parent satisfaction surveys.
