State Plan on Aging
State Plan on Aging Development for Fiscal Years 2027-2029
State Units on Aging are tasked under the Older Americans Act with developing and administering a multi-year State Plan on Aging that provides goals and objectives related to assisting older residents, their families, and caregivers in their states.
Guidance on content and expectations for developing the State Plan is established by the Federal Administration for Community Living (ACL), including a required narrative and specific attachments. The next state plan document will be submitted for approval by July 1, 2026, for an effective date of October 1, 2026.
MDHHS has conducted a statewide needs assessment to help in identifying priorities for MDHHS in promoting and supporting the health and well-being of Michigan's older adult population. Data analysis is underway and will be used to formulate goals and objectives for the next plan. A draft of that plan will be available for review and public comment in late Spring, 2026.
