State Plan on Aging

State Plan on Aging Development for Fiscal Years 2027-2029

State Units on Aging are tasked under the Older Americans Act with developing and administering a multi-year State Plan on Aging that provides goals and objectives related to assisting older residents, their families, and caregivers in their states.

Guidance on content and expectations for developing the State Plan is established by the Federal Administration for Community Living (ACL), including a required narrative and specific attachments. The next state plan document will be submitted for approval by July 1, 2026, for an effective date of October 1, 2026.

MDHHS is conducting a statewide needs assessment for help in identifying priorities for MDHHS in promoting and supporting the health and well-being of Michigan's older adult population and their caregivers.

A series of community conversations will be held across the state through mid-November. A schedule of the state-wide community conversations is available online at Community Conversations.

A survey to capture input from Michigan's older adults and caregivers is available for completion online at https://bit.ly/olderadultssurvey2729

A paper copy of this survey is available for downloading by clicking on Older Adults Survey.
