Improving Access to Health Care for Children & Youth with Epilepsy

By partnering with local pediatricians, epilepsy centers, the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan, and others, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is increasing access to care for children and youth with epilepsy who live in rural and medically-underserved areas. We're increasing access to health care through telemedicine, medical homes, education and training, transition planning, and connecting families and youth with resources.
 
Since 2010, the Michigan CSHCS (Children's Special Health Care Services) Division has led a project partnership focused on increasing access to care for children and youth with epilepsy (CYE) in rural and underserved areas. Building on previous successes, the project is currently focused on training and education, direct services (care coordination, telemedicine, transition planning, epilepsy action plans), technology designed to support families, family engagement, and marketing and outreach. Read more....
