Chardaé Burton, Director of Legislative Affairs
Chardaé Burton is the Director of Legislative Affairs at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, she oversees the legislative and constituent services teams, along with the development of all departmental legislative priorities at the state and federal levels.
Previously, Burton was Senior Advisor to the MDHHS Chief Deputy Director for Administration, where she engaged in the development of various programs and policies critical to the mission of the department. Throughout her tenure at MDHHS, she has served as an eligibility specialist in Wayne County, within Pathways to Potential, and as a legislative analyst working closely with the Executive Office of the Governor, the Michigan Legislature and various stakeholders on health and human services-related policy and constituent issues.
Burton has interned with the Michigan House of Representatives, holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and was a 2020 policy fellow at the Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation at the University of Michigan.
