Emily Skrzypczak, Chief of Staff
Emily Skrzypczak is the chief of staff to the MDHHS director, working to advance the strategic and policy priorities of the department. She oversees Tribal Government Services and Policy.
Emily joined MDHHS in 2019 as director of Legislative Affairs leading the department’s legislative initiatives and serving as the liaison between MDHHS and the legislature, namely throughout the COVID-19 emergency. From there, she worked as a senior advisor to the Public Health Administration providing organizational and policy support and was then promoted to senior advisor to the chief deputy director for administration.
Prior to joining MDHHS, Emily has served as senior policy analyst at the Michigan League for Public Policy, policy advisor and appropriations coordinator for the Michigan House of Representatives Democratic caucus, and membership engagement coordinator at the Small Business Association of Michigan.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Central Michigan University and is a graduate of the Michigan Political Leadership Program, where she now serves on the advisory board and was a 2014 policy fellow at the Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation.
