Livonia Dentist Has License Summarily Suspended
August 11, 2010
The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the dentistry license of Thomas S. Schwagle, D.D.S. The MDCH Bureau of Health Professions orders a summary suspension when it believes the public's health, safety, and welfare warrant emergency action.
Schwagle's license was summarily suspended based on inappropriately providing prescription medications to a patient to treat migraine headaches and back pain; his failure to properly document the date, dosage, and amount of the medication prescribed; and failure to maintain a patient record. In addition, Schwagle provided nitrous oxide tanks for a party at his home.
On July 30, 2010, the MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Schwagle's license pursuant to the Public Health Code.
