MDCH Director Haveman statement about mental health executive orders

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 20, 2013

LANSING - Michigan Department of Community Health Director James K. Haveman statement regarding the mental health executive orders issued today by Governor Rick Snyder:

"Given the priority of mental health in Michigan right now, Governor Snyder's call for a new commission to look at and advise the Department of Community Health on mental health issues is vitally important as we look at the current system and changes going forward.

"We have already begun looking at early intervention care for Michigan children with mental health needs, but we know we need to also look at the continuum of care across a person's lifespan.

"We are eager to begin working with Lt. Gov. Calley and our legislative partners to ensure that Michigan is providing the best possible quality care for those with mental health needs in our state."
