Information on free lead inspections, soil testing and job opportunities available
LANSING, Mich. – City of Benton Harbor families are being reminded about the City of Benton Harbor Water Response Resource and Opportunity Fair happening today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor, Joel E. Smilow Teen Center, 190 W. Empire Drive.
Families will be able to get information about services and resources available to City of Benton Harbor residents to help reduce or eliminate lead from their homes.
Resources include:
- Home water testing kits
- Soil testing
- Free bottled water
- Filters and filter installation education
- Free lead inspection sign-up
- Job opportunities
The Resource and Opportunity fair will also feature employers seeking employees, water response resources and information, as well as lead service line replacement information. The event will include information and representatives from local community organizations, the City of Benton Harbor, Berrien County Health Department, Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
