MDHHS issues RFP for planning and implementing evidence-based services and research-supported services for juvenile justice-involved youth

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to assist communities with planning and implementation of evidence-based services to promote and preserve community-based placement for juvenile justice-involved youth who may be otherwise placed into out-of--home placement. Funding for this initiative is being provided by the Juvenile Justice Subcommittee of the Mental Health Diversion Council with its Fiscal Year 2023 allocation.

The RFP seeks to increase the availability of the following models to promote and preserve community-based placement and decrease the need for out-of-home care:

  • Multisystemic Therapy.
  • Multisystemic Therapy for Problem Sexual Behaviors.
  • Brief Strategic Family Therapy.
  • Functional Family Therapy.
  • Youth Advocate Programs.

A total of $375,000 is available in this RFP, and MDHHS anticipates issuing up to three awards.

Funded applicants will receive ongoing guidance from the MDHHS project coordinator regarding program start-up, reporting requirements and barriers to program implementation.

Grant applications for the Evidence Based and Research Supported Services for Juvenile Justice Youth RFP must be submitted electronically through the EGrAMS program by 3 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2022. The program period begins Jan. 1, 2023 and ends Sept. 30, 2023. Funding from Oct. 1, 2023 through Sept. 30, 2024, may be available to successful applicants based upon additional funding availability and acceptable performance.
