MDHHS updates opioid strategy progress metrics dashboard
October 09, 2026
LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has updated the Michigan Opioid Strategy Progress Metrics Dashboard to better align with and track progress made on goals recommended by the Michigan Opioids Task Force (OTF).
The dashboard is organized by the four pillars of Michigan’s Substance Use (SUD) Response Framework: primary prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery support. Displayed within the pillars are goals that Michigan is working to achieve with opioid settlement fund investments.
“Every goal on this dashboard is tied to a specific, measurable way we can track the impact of our work,” said Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, chief medical executive and chair of the OTF. “We want the investments we make in prevention, harm reduction, treatment and recovery to be guided by data and made public for everyone to see. This dashboard helps us see where our work is making a difference and where we need to focus more attention.”
The data-driven goals are selected based on recommendations by OTF subcommittees, which include appointed volunteers. These volunteers have expertise and experience related to SUD. Progress toward each goal is tracked over time with evidence-based metrics that were selected based on how well they match each goal, their usefulness, data availability, responsiveness to investments made by state and health equity relevance.
The dashboard will be routinely updated as information becomes available.
Michigan is slated to receive more than $1.8 billion from national opioid settlements by 2040, with half being distributed to the State of Michigan and the other half being distributed directly to county, city and township governments across the state. Additional information about proposed programming under Michigan’s Opioids Healing and Recovery Fund can be found on the opioids settlement website
