Gambling

Help prevent young people from developing a gambling disorder.

Gambling can be a fun activity for some…and a mental health issue for others. It becomes a problem when continued gambling disrupts a person’s life, family, and career. After online gambling was legalized in our state, Michigan became the #1 state in the amount of money wagered online. This easy accessibility has also increased calls to Michigan’s problem gambling hotline.

Though gambling is illegal for those under 18 years of age, there are few controls to prevent young people from gambling online. And teenagers who gamble are three to four times more likely than adults to become problem gamblers.
