MICEP Information for Health Care Providers
Health care providers in and around eligible ZIP codes were invited to help with MICEP recruitment. This includes referring eligible patients to participate in MICEP.
As a health care provider, if you received a partner invitation and would like to participate or if you have questions, call us at 844-464-7327 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
If you did not receive an invitation, but want to see if you could help, call us at 844-464-7327.
How are we asking health care providers to help?
We are asking health care providers to assist by sharing our recruitment materials with your patients that are pregnant. This can include:
- Handing out our Recruitment Brochure or MICEP Flyer in person or virtually to your patients.
- Placing our brochures in your waiting room.
- Displaying our poster on any bulletin boards in your exam or waiting rooms.
Information for HCPs whose patients participated in MICEP
As a health care provider, you might be hearing from your patient(s) who participated in the MICEP project. Blood and urine samples from participants in MICEP are being tested for 42 environmental chemicals, including arsenic, lead, mercury and PFAS. Participants also complete a survey that includes questions about the ways they may have come in contact with the chemicals.
Your patient(s) may bring their MICEP lab results to you for discussion.
If your patients have questions, you can use the resources below to help them.
- The Environmental Health Education for Health Care Providers website provides resources on multiple chemicals and opportunities for continued education (CE) credits.
- The MICEP Resource Page has a variety of resources on the chemicals measured by the MICEP project.
The MICEP project team is available to answer questions related to the project results and environmental chemical exposures. You can contact the MICEP team by calling 844-464-7327 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by emailing MDHHS-micep@michigan.gov.
