Beneficiary Advisory Council

The Beneficiary Advisory Council (BAC) is a new statewide committee that consists entirely of community members with lived experience. The primary role of the BAC is to advise the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) on policy development and effective administration of the Medicaid program. BAC members have a formal voice in the decision-making process. 

Council Composition

The BAC consists of Michigan residents meeting one or more of the following criteria:
  • Current Michigan Medicaid member
  • Former Medicaid member in any state within the last 5 years.
  • Caregiver or family member of Michigan Medicaid member

Medicaid Advisory Committee

The Medical Care Advisory Committee (MCAC) has transitioned to the Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) in alignment with the launch of the BAC. This committee consists of members of MDHHS leadership, health professionals serving Medicaid beneficiaries, and members of consumer organizations. A portion of BAC members attend quarterly MAC meetings and are official MAC members.
