Home Help Individual Caregivers
Home Help Individual Caregivers must use EVV for services on and after September 3, 2024.
Learn How to Download the EVV Mobile Application in 3 Steps
Michigan has selected HHAeXchange as the state’s selected EVV system. If using the state-offered EVV solution, HHAeXchange, the methods for reporting information include either the mobile application, HHAeXchange+, or Interactive Voice Response (IVR)/Telephony.
- MMP 24-34 EVV Personal Care Services Updates
- L Letter 24-38 Changes to Home Help Authorizations and Payment Changes Delayed
- MMP 24-21
- L Letter 24-14
- MMP 23-76
Do You Live with Your Client?
If you live with your client, have submitted a Live-in Caregiver Attestation form (BPHASA-2421) (including two proofs of residency) to the client’s MDHHS Adult Services Worker (ASW) and have been approved or are awaiting ASW decision, you do not need to use EVV.
After review, the ASW will send a notification of the determination via mailed letter to both the individual caregiver and client. For more information, see policy bulletin MMP 24-21.
EVV Collection Methods
If using the state-offered EVV solution, HHAeXchange, the methods for reporting information include:
Mobile Application
The HHAeXchange+ mobile application can be downloaded to a client-owned, caregiver-owned, or GPS-enabled tablet. The caregiver will use the device to clock in at the start of the service and clock out at the end of the service. This is the preferred method for reporting EVV information.
EVV HHAeXchange+ Mobile App User Guide
Interactive Voice Response (IVR)/Telephony
Using the client's home phone/landline, the caregiver will call a designated toll-free EVV telephone line to clock in at the start of the service and place a second call to clock out at the end of the service. EVV IVR User Guide
This is an approved method of reporting EVV but is only expected to be used if the mobile application is not an option. A caregiver may use IVR when:
- The client authorizes the use of their landline for EVV.
- The client's services start and end in their home.
If the client does not have a landline that can be used for the purpose of EVV, the caregiver must use the mobile application.

EVV Mobile Activation Code & Services Portal Credential Email EVV system credentials will begin to be shared with individual caregivers starting the week of September 3, 2024. The HHAeXchange credential email will be sent to the email address on file in your CHAMPS provider enrollment. The email will contain both the HHAeXchange+(plus) mobile application activation code and the email verification link for the HHAeXchange Services Portal. The mobile activation code is needed when setting up the HHAeXchange+ application and allows you, as the caregiver, to be linked to the State of Michigan to display your list of approved clients. You can use the mobile activation code for 7 days from the email date. After seven days, this code will expire. The HHAeXchange EVV Services Portal is a web-based system where individual caregivers can make corrections or edits to previously captured visits, which are unable to be fixed in either the mobile application or IVR. The email will contain a link to verify the email address. Once the email is verified you will receive a second email to reset your password. You will have 12 hours to reset the temporary password in the email. |
