FY 2020 MIOTA Application and Program Guidance
MIOTA is a medical education debt repayment program focused on incentivizing healthcare providers to begin and expand opioid treatment in Michigan. Eligible providers will receive loan repayment for beginning or expanding opioid treatment. The program has a two-year service obligation.
This program is available to medical providers (MD, DO, NP, PA) and SUD counselors. Medical providers must either:
- Begin providing opioid treatment in Michigan by obtaining a DATA 2000 waiver from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), or
- Already be providing treatment under a DATA 2000 waiver and agree to apply for a patient limit increase, or
- Provide full-time SUD conseling as an eligible and licensed SUD counselor
The application cycle will begin on October 21, 2019 and close on November 30, 2019. Applications must be mailed to MDHHS, as directed in the program guidance below.
