Region 8
Region 8 makes up the Upper Peninsula and is joined to the Lower Peninsula by the Mackinac Bridge. Region 8 makes up nearly 1/3 of the total land mass of Michigan but only 3 percent of its total population. The region is comprised of 15 rural counties. Region 8 is served by 14 hospitals, 54 EMS agencies, 8 Medical Control Authorities and 6 Health Departments.
