September 2, 2025: Attention ALL providers: Effective October 15, 2025, MDHHS TPL will receive a monthly file from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Coverage contained in this file will be loaded directly into the CHAMPS TPL coverage file. This includes Anthem BCBS of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin. MDHHS TPL will no longer update these commercial records unless there are changes after the last load date of eligibility received directly from Anthem BCBS. Providers are asked to contact the member’s Anthem BCBS plan for any questions related to loaded commercial coverage.
Anthem BCBS requires that Medicaid use specific policy numbers and alpha prefixes. Providers do not need to report any changes to update the information listed in CHAMPS. The appropriate numbers can be found on the back of the member’s card or providers can reference https://www.anthem.com/contact-us.
Note: On or around October 15, 2025, corresponding with the loading of the Anthem BCBS file, there may be a duplicate benefit shown in the member’s TPL record. TPL will work to resolve this as quickly as possible. Providers may report duplicate coverage to expedite removal.
