Lansing Physician Loses License

May 24, 2010

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the osteopathic medicine and surgery license of Frederick A. Hogan, D.O., based on his conviction in the United States District Court of the Western District of Michigan.

On December 10, 2009, Hogan, 59, was convicted of one felony count of distributing Oxycodone outside the usual course of professional practice and for no legitimate medical purpose. As a result, Hogan was sentenced to five years in federal prison and three years of supervised release.

On May 18, 2010, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Hogan's license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction.
