MDCH Recognizes April as National Minority Health Month

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), Division of Health Wellness and Disease Control, Health Disparities Reduction and Minority Health Section is sponsoring statewide events and activities throughout the month of April to celebrate National Minority Health Month.
Impact of Health Care Reform on Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations in Michigan." Michigan's National Minority Health Month activities will focus on two themes, "Promoting Healthy Nutrition Among School Age Children" and "Empowerment through Education and Awareness:
These organizations will sponsor events and activities across the state throughout the month of April. They are geared toward the five racial and ethnic minority populations served by the Health Disparities Reduction and Minority Health Section: African-Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, American Indians/Alaskan Natives, Arab and Chaldean Americans and Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders. The MDCH awarded funding to 25 agencies and organizations that represent local health departments, schools, hospitals, health centers, community and faith-based organizations and universities.
