MDHHS Names Morrison Director for Livingston/Shiawassee Counties

Lansing, Mich. June 13, 2012 - The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is pleased to announce that Alison Morrison has been appointed director for its Livingston and Shiawassee county offices, effective immediately. She had been acting director for the two counties since November 2012.

Morrison is an 18-year veteran of MDHHS.  Prior to her appointment, Morrison was program manager over Child Welfare and Assistance Payments for Livingston and Shiawassee counties. She began her career with MDHHS as a Children's Protective Services worker, and also managed in foster care, licensing, juvenile justice, adult services and prevention. Morrison spent six years working in the child welfare private sector before joining MDHHS.

"It's an honor being asked to lead the effort in Livingston and Shiawassee counties for the department," said Morrison. "This has always been home for me and my family, and I know the need for the vital services MDHHS brings to the community. I look forward to helping provide great service for all of our clients through our dedicated staff and partners." 

Morrison is actively involved with community collaborative committees in both counties and serves on the United Way board in Shiawassee County.

Born and raised in Shiawassee County, Morrison is married with two children. She earned her bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Michigan-Flint, and is currently working toward her master's degree in social work at Michigan State University.
