LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Office of Services to the Aging (OSA) and the Commission on Services to the Aging are now accepting nominations for this year's "Senior Citizen of the Year."
Each year two older Michigan residents are selected to receive an award for their outstanding volunteerism in the categories of community leadership and service to others.
The award winners will be honored at a special ceremony during Older Michiganians Day on June 3 at the State Capitol in Lansing, Mich. Each winner will receive $1,500, courtesy of Consumers Energy.
Nominations are accepted from businesses, community service and faith-based organizations, associations, fraternal organizations, and other public and private entities who value the contributions of older adults.
Individuals age 60 or older are eligible for nomination for their uncompensated work they performed over the past year.
Award winners will be selected by May 16, and nominating organizations will be notified at that time.

Nominations are due April 15.
