LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) today released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for organizations interested in applying for Health Innovation Grant funds for one-time projects up to $35,000 that demonstrate an innovative approach to improving the delivery of Michigan’s health services.
MDCH plans to award grant funding to approximately 40-50 projects. The Health Innovation Grants are intended to stimulate creativity and allow for ability to bridge the gap between creative, collaborative ideas and their implementation. Michigan has a broad number of community health priorities that must be addressed creatively to shape the future health of Michigan’s citizens. In line with the State of Michigan’s continual efforts to improve the health and wellness of our state, these grants strive to address these priorities.
This is the second year Michigan has awarded these Health Innovation Grants. Last year, 50 grants were awarded for a total of $1.25 million. MDCH is currently conducting on-site visits and monitoring last year’s awardees. For projects that have been completed, organizations can apply to support replication projects resulting from completed 2014 projects.
Applicants may be public, non-profit and private organizations. MDCH is looking for projects that may be replicated and have clearly defined outcomes. Organizations are encouraged to include matching funds in their proposal in support of their proposed initiative.
Questions from potential applicants are due by Sept. 5, and all applications are due Sept. 22. Questions regarding the RFP from potential applicants should be sent in writing to the email address listed in the application.
