Michigan Career and Technical Institute to Graduate 168 Students
Barry County, Mich. – The Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI) will host a graduation ceremony for 168 of their students from throughout the state on Saturday, June 27, at their Plainwell campus, 11611 W. Pine Lake Road. Operated by Michigan Rehabilitation Services within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, MCTI provides vocational training in 13 different career areas for adults with disabilities.
“MCTI training programs and supportive services are directly geared toward business markets where there’s a need for employees,” said Lt. Gov. Brian Calley. “These students have a lot to offer employers and they leave MCTI with skills that are in high demand. It’s a win-win situation for our students and for Michigan employers.”
As a leader in the rehabilitation community, MCTI and its staff strive to promote the integration of persons with disabilities into both the competitive workplace and the society in which they live. As part of MCTI, students have the opportunity to be enrolled in 13 technical training programs, including automotive technology, cabinet making/millwork, certified nursing assistant, culinary arts, custodial, electronics, graphic communications, grounds maintenance/landscaping, machine technology, office automation, pharmacy technician, retail marketing, or weatherization.
MCTI also offers health, psychological and social work services, sports and activities, family housing, student government and much more. Learn more at www.michigan.gov/MCTI.
MCTI is just one of many programs operated by Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS). Catering to the approximately 1.3 million individuals with disabilities in Michigan, MRS works with eligible customers and employers to achieve quality employment outcomes and independence for individuals with disabilities. They work in partnership with individuals with disabilities to prepare for and obtain competitive employment, including exploring the possibilities of self-employment or owning a small business. Employment services to individuals with disabilities are provided in all 83 Michigan counties.
MRS can also help employers find and retain qualified workers with disabilities. Learn more about their full scope of services at www.michigan.gov/MRS.
