Data and Outcomes

  • MDHHS is working with all CMHSPs and their provider network to ensure the use of the Devereux Early Childhood Assessments as an outcome measure for infants, toddlers and young children (ages 1 month to 4 years of age) served in the public mental health system.

The use of the DECA is required at intake, quarterly and upon discharge.

Training is provided for clinical staff via webinar and in person.  The training calendar for “face to face” training is listed on the http://www.eotta.ccresa.org/ training calendar.

  • The Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS; ages 5-19; Hodges, 1990) is used to determine the level of youths’ functioning. Scores are calculated and recorded during every quarter. The CAFAS is used as part of the determination of functional impairment that substantially interferes with or limits the minor’s role or results in impaired functioning in family, school, or community activities.

MDHHS will continue to provide CAFAS Train the Trainer trainings and CAFAS Trainer Boosters through the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards (MACMHB). Please go to the MACMHB’s website for training details and registration, www.macmhb.org

  • The Preschool and Early Childhood Assessment Scale (PECFAS; ages 3-7; Hodges, 1990) is used to determine the level of child’s functioning. The PECFAS is used as part of the determination of functional impairment that substantially interferes with or limits the minor’s role or results in impaired functioning in the family, childcare/school or community activities.

MDHHS will continue to provide PECFAS Train the Trainer trainings and PECFAS Trainer Boosters through the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards (MACMHB). Please go to the MACMHB’s website for training details and registration, www.macmhb.org
