Health Differences Data Project

The focus of the Michigan Health Differences Data Project is health fairness. Health fairness is defined as “the absence of systematic differences in health and its determinants between groups of people at different levels of underlying social advantage (i.e., wealth, power, and/or social prestige)” Monitoring health differences requires standardized, complete, and consistent data collection over time. The Michigan Health Differences Data Project produces several reports that present information on how populations compare to one another and whether they become closer to or further from each other over time. By gathering comparable data for each racial/ethnic population and combining all indicators in one place, these Health Differences Data Tables allow us to routinely monitor health differences in Michigan and evaluate progress over time.
